Is your dog being
destructive when you are away from home? If the
answer is “Yes” then your dog might suffer from
separation anxiety. Some dogs are so emotionally
attached to their owners that if left alone they
get so stressed that they may try to escape
confinement, bark/cry for a long time,
destructively chew things in the house or
relieve themselves.
It is important to
realize that the destructive behavior is due to
the stress of being alone. Don’t try to fix the
symptoms, instead address the underlying stress.
Please note that
not all destructive behaviors are due to
separation anxiety, for example, your dog might
become destructive if he/she is not getting
enough physical exercise.
